Desiree

It is my pleasure to introduce you all to Desiree. A woman that wears many hats here at Grateful Friends Animal Rescue. She is the Founder, Foster Coordinator, Finance Coordinator and she is in charge of vet appointment scheduling for all animals currently in the rescue’s care. Did I mention she’s only 23?!

Over the years Desiree has worked for many animal rescue organizations as she has always had a passion for helping animals in need. It was in 2020 she decided to create and run Grateful Friends Animal Rescue, a non-profit volunteer run program that relies solely on donations to support the animals in care.

When asked about the rewards and challenges she has experienced throughout her time rescuing animals Desiree said “Rescue can be heartbreaking as we see animals from all different situations and sometimes we are not able to help them in the ways we wished. [However] It is super rewarding to see animals thrive and find their furever homes”.

As the founder of GFAR we wanted to know exactly what resources Desiree thought would best benefit the rescue. She told us that donations, fosters, and adopters would provide the most support to Grateful Friends as it would best allow the program to continue to help the animals who need them the most.

If you or anyone you know is interested in donating, becoming a foster or searching for a new fuzzy family member please consider supporting Grateful Friends Animal Rescue. You can find the rescue on Instagram, on Facebook and on their website at gratefulfriendsanimalrescue.com

Along her rescuing journey Desiree has connected with many of the animals she has provided care for. These are her pets to date:
